Apple announced the date for their event, and I am beyond excited! I used to buy every single S version of the iPhone, and every time it felt like I was holding a completely new device. The peak of that feeling for me was the upgrade to the iPhone X.
When the iPhone X came out, it was a device on a completely different level, we had Face ID for the first time, we got surgical-grade stainless steel, there were great cameras, an OLED display, etc.
After that, I stopped seeing that same leap, it was not the same feeling I had with the X. I entered a competition for the best pet project in my country, and I won, and the prize was an iPhone 12 Pro. That was great, I got a new iPhone, but this time I felt no new emotions with it. I did not notice any real difference between the iPhone X and the iPhone 12 Pro. That was the first time I thought that Apple’s magic was gone…
And it kept going that way, the iPhone 13-17 came out, and none of them added anything that really pulled me in, so yes, I am still sitting here with my iPhone 12 Pro 😬 And that is awful, because every year I really want to upgrade, I wait for the new iPhone, and I end up disappointed because I am waiting for something new and they just give me a new camera! Sure, the newer iPhones added some AI-related features, but let us be honest, those features are pretty mediocre and don’t change your user experience in any meaningful way.
Now, when the new foldable iPhone comes out this year, that will finally be the year I happily replace my old iPhone 12 Pro. I know it will be expensive, because even if you look at the foldable Samsung phones, they are also very expensive, nowhere close to regular non-foldable devices. But you know what, I just want to feel that Apple magic again and finally hold it in my hands, to feel what I felt many years ago when I bought the iPhone X. To show you how serious my intentions are, I recently even considered buying that Samsung foldable, because I want a new device that badly... But I keep believing in Apple, and I hope that on September 9 they will show me my next iPhone, an iPhone I will happily put in my pocket, right after I pull all the money out of it to pay for it 😅

Apple confirmed the date for its fall event, I expect to see a new iPhone 18 and the first foldable iPhone! Prices will climb again due to ongoing memory shortages. This time I want a surprise, guys. Apple even put it right in the slogan - “Surprise and Shine.” I hope they do not let me down...
New domain for Sign in with Apple
Apple issues private relay addresses on private.icloud.com instead of privaterelay.appleid.com. Old addresses keep forwarding mail without any changes. Don’t forget to allowlist the new domain.
Embedded Swift Improvements Coming in Swift 6.4
Swift 6.4 closes more gaps between Embedded Swift and the full language. I have not worked with Embedded Swift myself yet, but I am always happy to see any updates to what it can do.
